Mr. Counterfeiters Pay OtterBox $2 Million Orders a US District Court Judge

OtterBoxImitation is the greatest form of flattery! For one company, OtterBox, which is probably the number one branded case manufacture, to be overwhelmed with flattery, has put a stop to a New York based company from further flattery.

OtterBox has just won a major victory against New York base company, S & P Trading Inc, which allegedly sold counterfeit cases on eBay.com. A federal judge has issued a permanent injunction against S & P Trading Inc. and was order to pay $2 million.

From OtterBox’s Press Release:

OtterBox®, maker of premium protective cases for mobile technology, has won another battle in the ongoing war against counterfeiters. A U.S. District Court judge recently issued a permanent injunction against a New York-based company and ordered it to pay OtterBox $2 million related to the sale of counterfeit cases.

Counterfeit merchandise is no form a flattery! In fact, in most cases it damages the reputation of the brand. Unfortunately, some counterfeit products are copied so well, that consumers can not even tell the difference until the inferior product does not perform as intended. CEO Brian Thomas of OtterBox explains:

A lot of design, engineering and testing goes into each of our custom protective cases, which is why we take a hard line with companies creating and selling fake cases, as well as those infringing on our patents and trademarks. Counterfeit products damage our reputation for delivering premium quality products because many consumers aren’t aware that they purchased a fake OtterBox. If a deal seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.

Next time you are shopping for a deal, make sure it is not too good to be true.

iLuv Frill Samsung Galaxy S3 Credit Card Wallet Case S 3 III Review

Thanks to iLuv Frill, Samsung Galaxy S3 S III 3 android smartphone owners can now leave home without a wallet or purse.  iLuv, New York designer and manufacture of award-winning cases and accessories, has answered the need for many Galaxy S3 III S 3 owners by manufacturing one of the first ultra-thin credit card wallet case.

Apple iPhone owners are no strangers to credit card wallet cases. Case-Mate ID case was one of the first credit card wallet cases made available for the iPhone 3G/3Gs and 4/4s. Then other manufactures like Speck with their Smart Flex case, and Incipio with the Stowaway card case, jumped in to market with their version of the credit card wallet case. All of which are great cases with their own unique features. None of the mentioned case manufactures have a credit card wallet case for the Samsung Galaxy S3 S III3, as of the time of this post.

Here comes iLuv. If you are an Apple user, you may have heard of iLuv. They’re a well-respected manufacture that has been specializing in Apple accessories since 2006. In 2010, iLuv partnered with Samsung and started manufacturing accessories for Samsung devices. They have brought their award-winning Apple designs over to the android Samsung world, for all of us to enjoy. The Frill credit card case is one of those.

iLuv Frill credit card wallet case is available in four colors. Thy come in a white hard-shell with silver card slot holder, pink hard-shell with a white card slot holder, black hard-shell with a red card slot holder, blue hard-shell with a silver card slot holder.

iLuv Frill Galaxy S3 Credit Card Case Multi ©CaseAHOLIC

The iLuv Frill Samsung Galaxy s 3 is a two-piece case that has been molded in to one. It has a thin durable hard-shell that acts as the case. The hard-shell has a rubberized matte coating over the case. I personally like cases that have the rubberized matte coating verses the ones that are shiny for a couple of reasons. It helps add grip and prevents the Frill case from slipping from your hands, and does a fairly good job hiding the daily wear and tear from every day use.

iLuv Frill Credit Card Case Galaxy S3 S III 3 Top ©CaseAHOLIC

iLuv Frill Credit Card Case Galaxy S3 S III 3 inside ©CaseAHOLIC

The Frill snaps on to the back of the Galaxy S3 and covers the complete back and sides the phone. The Frill case will not fit the Samsung Galaxy S III S3 phone if there is any sort of thin layer of protection like a ZAGG InvisibleShield on the back of it. The back of the phone needs to be completely naked. The iLuv Frill case provides complete access to all of the Galaxy S3 S III 3 buttons, camera, microphone, headphone jack and charger port.

The pocket card slot is made out of plastic. iLuv did a great job on the pocket design making it look like it’s made out of aluminum. The cutout pattern design on the slot pocket is inspired by Antoni Gaudi.

iLuv Frill Credit Card Case Galaxy S3 S III 3 Back ©CaseAHOLIC

The iLuv Frill securely stores up to 2 credit cards/ID. I was able to stuff 3 cards in the pocket without too much trouble. With two credit cards or ID, I was able to easily slide them in and out. With three cards it gets a little tight and harder to access.

iLuv Frill Credit Card Case Galaxy S3 S III 3 Card ©CaseAHOLIC

There is a small tab that hangs down which keeps the cards secure. It does a really good job keeping the cards from falling out.

If you need to carry cash with you, iLuv Frill case is not the best choice. Keeping the cash secure and with easy access can be a challenge. I stuffed a few bills, folded them in half, in to the card pocket, above two credit cards. Getting the cash in the pocket can be tricky due to the drop down secure tab getting in the way. Once the cash is in the pocket, and you need to get to it, it’s almost impossible, unless some of the money is hanging out of the pocket for you to grab and pull out. If not, there is no easy way to get to it. I had to pull out both credit cards and use one of them to finagle the money out of the pocket, just enough for me to grab it.  The best way to carry cash with the Frill case is to fold a bill in half, and put it between two cards. then slide it in the pocket.

iLuv Frill Credit Card Case Galaxy S3 S III 3 lock ©CaseAHOLIC

iLuv did design the Frill case with a small raised rim around the screen. This raised rim helps prevent damage to the Samsung Galaxy S3 S III 3 screen from getting scratched when laying the phone face down.

iLuv Frill Credit Card Case Galaxy S3 S III 3 Side ©CaseAHOLIC

The iLuv Frill is thin, lightweight, fits the Galaxy S III perfectly and does not add to much bulk with the ability to carry a couple of cards. The design is unique and fashion friendly.

  • Thin and lightweight
  • Multiple color choices
  • Unique design
  • Can hold up to 3 cards
  • Durable

  • MSRP price is expensive
  • Can’t carry cash effectively
  • minimal phone protection

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case is Fashion Friendly but Lacks Usability!

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case is Fashion Friendly but lacks usability! It is a pleasure to see case manufactures, like SwitchEasy, be creative with their case designs, colors, and materials used. I believe SwitchEasy is one of the few manufactures that take risk in producing out of the box case designs, which sets them apart from other manufactures. The Pelle iPad case is no exception with its color combinations, design layout, custom key lock, ultra thin, and included vanity kit. Sounds great, right? Not so fast!

Outfitting the iPad to match your wardrobe of the day is simple with SwitchEasy Pelle new iPad folio case. It comes in three fashionable colors, all black, blue with light blue, and red with tan. If you want to add a little extra bling, SwitchEasy created two additional special edition colors, mint green with tan, and blossom pink with tan, and they come with Swarovski Element crystals on the key lock. Making a fashion statement with the iPad and SwitchEasy Pelle case is limitless.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Key lock Swarovski Crystal - CaseAHOLIC

SwitchEasy Pelle is ultra thin, 244mm x 189mm x 23mm. Even though it is ultra thin, I did not feel it was cheap or flimsy while holding it in my hands. I was pleased with the thickness of the Pelle case throughout my review.

The front flap cover that goes over the iPad LCD screen is made out of durable polyurethane faux leather, in another words, synthetic leather. I will say the faux leather material SwitchEasy is using for the Pelle case does resembles real leather very nicely. The workmanship of the stitching that goes around the rim and down the front cover flap is well constructed. The back shell is made out of a durable polycarbonate plastic that is semi-rigid. It does flex a little bit, but not much. The back of the hard shell has a rubberized texture overlay coating. This helps with extra grip while holding it in your hands, keeps it from sliding around while laying it on a smooth surface, and it helps keep it in place during landscape or typing angle.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Mint Green Open - CaseAHOLIC

What makes the SwitchEasy Pelle iPad case unique and different from other folio cases, it has a key lock mechanism, on the front of the folio cover, for purpose of changing the viewing angle of the case. The key lock mechanism, when in the lock position, forces the front cover to remain flat. When the key lock is pull out, it allows for a portion of the front flap to be bent back.

Below is a picture of the key lock pulled out. The stitching in the middle prevents the key lock from coming all the way out. I think this can be a problem in the future by coming unraveled from every day use and wear and tear. If you do purchase a SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad case, try not to pull out the key lock to hard to prevent any issues.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Key lock Swarovski Crystal Open - CaseAHOLIC

After spending some time reviewing the Pelle iPad case, the locking and unlocking of the key became a hassle. In the beginning I thought this could be a great ideal. But I was wrong. Every time I wanted to put the case in an angle for me to type on my iPad, I had to pull out the key lock. And then when I was done, I had to push it back in. I had to be cautious and make sure the key lock was pull all the way out every time in order not to damage the case. If I used too much force bending back the flap, and the key lock was not pulled all the way out, I could do some damage or even tear the front cover. This is gimmicky and not functional for the heavy iPad user.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Key Cover Open - CaseAHOLIC

The inside of the SwitchEasy Pelle looks trendy and fashionable with the two-tone look. The inside flap, left side, is made with the same faux leather as the top. The SwitchEasy logo is branded nicely towards the top left corner. The hard shell, right side, has a smooth texture on the inside of it. There is no rubber coating like the backside. There is also a SwitchEasy logo placed down on the bottom center.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Shell - CaseAHOLIC

I really like iPad cases that provide many different options for viewing angles. The SwitchEasy Pelle falls short, in my opinion. There are three main viewing setups. Within those setups, I know you can make further adjustment to find the right viewing angle, but it does not work very well. Picture below, is the first viewing angle option. In order to set this up correctly, the key lock needs to be all the way in. Then all you do is flip over the cover and adjust the angle to suit your needs. From my testing and review, this option works ok, depending on the surface the Pelle iPad case is sitting on, and how much of a slope the iPad screen is at.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Landscap - CaseAHOLIC

The picture below shows the Pelle case in the second viewing angle option. You can achieve a greater slope angle with this method. In order to set this up, you have to pull out the key lock, and flip back the tab portion up and over. I did find few problems with this setup. Depending on the surface I would lay the SwitchEasy Pelle case on, as long it was flat, it would function correctly. I did have some trouble on uneven surfaces, but not much. Also, on slippery surfaces, I was limited to certain angles. I had to keep my iPad more upright than at a slope. My iPad seemed to slip and fall if I tried to put to much slope on the angle of the screen.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Landscap Typing Folded - CaseAHOLIC

The picture below shows the SwitchEasy Pelle iPad case in the only typing angle that is really available. There are two slits on the back hard shell. Only one slit is used in conjunction with the flap cover. Once I was able to successfully put the Pelle case in the typing angle, I found it very difficult and frustrating to keep it from falling as I was typing. The slit on the back hard shell does a horrible job of keeping the iPad from falling. If you do a lot of typing with your iPad, and you purchase this case, be prepared for some frustration.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Landscap Typing - CaseAHOLIC

There is another major concern I have with SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad case. The picture below shows how the key lock touches the back of the hard shell case when it is completely folded over the iPad. I found two issues with this. One is, the key lock rubs against the back hard shell. At some point either the back hard shell cover or the chrome finish on the key lock is going to wear out from the constant friction between the two surfaces. I personally could be ok with the back hard shell having a spot showing the wear and tear from the key lock. It is the back cover. There is bound to be some scratches and nicks from daily use. However, the key lock is more visible to everyone since it is on the front of the iPad cover. I would want that to remain looking new for as long as possible, especially if I purchased the special editions with the Swarovski element crystals.

Issue number two, when the flap cover is all the way flipped around, and I’m holding the Pelle case in my hand with the iPad screen facing me, vertically or horizontally, the key lock causes the cover from setting flush with the back hard shell. This causes a gap in the middle of the SwitchEasy Pelle iPad cover and the top and bottom of the cover rocks up and down like a teeter-totter. I found this annoying. It is even more annoying when you lay the SwitchEasy Pelle case on a flat surface, and it teeter-totters side to side when touching or swiping the screen from left to right, or right to left.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Crystals Rubbing Back - CaseAHOLIC

The Pelle New iPad case speaker cutout features multiple square boxes with vertical and horizontal lines. I like this design because it ads protection for the speaker verses some cases that have one big cutout. I did not experience any volume degradation with this cutout.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Speaker Cutout Closeup - CaseAHOLIC

The Pelle case provides complete access to the side rocker buttons, vibe switch, camera, on/off sleep button, mic, headphone jack and bottom charger port.

SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad Folio Case Cutout Closeup - CaseAHOLIC

SwitchEasy includes one LCD screen protector, cleaning cloth, squeegee, and two charger connector and headphone jack port covers with the Pelle New iPad (2012) and iPad 2 (2011).

Final thoughts:

The SwitchEasy Pelle New iPad (2012) and iPad 2 (2011) folio case brings something new and different. The color options are fashionable and can be used to coordinate with many different outfits. I like how the Pelle is ultra thin and lightweight. The overall quality of it is durable and offers the iPad decent amount of protection. I am not a big fan of the key lock feature and the limited viewing angles. If you are looking for an iPad case that is more fashionable in design verses functional for everyday use, then give the Pelle a try.

Incase’s Warehouse Sale Event Saved Me $500 – August 4, 2012

Incase Warehouse Sale Saves Me $500 CaseAHOLIC

Incase warehouse sale event saved me $500.00. It was a one-day event held on August 4, 2012, at their warehouse location in Chino, California. If you were one of the lucky ones to take advantage of Incase’s warehouse sale event on August 4, 2012, congratulations to you and the money you saved. If you did not partake in this event, I will do my best to describe what you missed out on.

Incase ‘s warehouse sale event was announced on their Facebook page, which is where I first learned about it. If you do not follow Incase on Facebook, you may want to start now!

The day of the warehouse sale event arrived and I forgot! I woke up, did my morning rituals, and then I checked my Facebook. As I was reading my news feed, I saw Incase’s reminder of their warehouse sale event. I jumped on over to their announcement and saw it started at 9:00 am and ended at 3:00 pm (pst). I looked down at my watch and it was 11:30 am! I saw this picture, posted by Cindy Rollins at 8:30 in the morning, of all these people in line.

Incase Warehouse Sale Event August 4 2012 Waiting in Line

After seeing this picture above, I was thinking to myself, by time I get there, everything would be all gone. I was contemplating on not going. Kurt Yun-Doyle posted this picture below, excited of all the products he purchased at a great price. Here is his quote:

Got our haul! And it’s not even half of what some people are walking out of here with! Totaled just $205. =D

Kurt Yun-Doyle Bucket of Incase Products

Based on some of the post I was reading on Facebook, it appeared Incase had no purchasing rules or limitations. First come, no limit, all you can carry, and all the money you can spend, seemed like the only limitations. Penn Dalton, wrote a tip for the next event Incase puts on:

Tip for next time: Limit how many of one item you can buy. Seeing that guy take pretty much all your ARI DSLR bags passed a lot of people off.

I was really sure by time I made it down to Incase’s warehouse sales event everything would be gone. Then I saw Incase posted a few pictures of some of the products in the sale.

I kept thinking if I don’t go, I would regret it later. A true caseaholic I am, I just could not resist myself, and regardless of what was left by the time I get there, I’m going. I arrived around 2:00 pm, only an hour left till the sale event closed, and I was prepared for the worst.

Mr. CaseAHOLIC arrives to Incase's Warehouse Sales Event August 4 2012

Once I got inside of the warehouse, where all of the product were, I was pleased to see plenty of product still available. As you walk in the entrance, on the right side, you’ll find the cashiers ready to take you money. Just behind them, were two pallets with Sonic and Pivot headphones. To the left side of the entrance, were tables against the left side wall, that stretch about 30 feet long. It had bags of all sorts, backpacks, messenger bags, sleeves, and iPad cases. Down the middle, was a row of boxes filled with iPod and iPhone cases, and earbuds, from what I saw. For the most part, all of the products were categorized by device, which made it easier to find products. It saved me time since I already had an ideal of which devices I was looking for accessories.

Incase had an assortment of new and new/opened box products. From what I could tell most of the bags, backpacks and sleeves looked new. As for the iPad, iPhone, iPod cases, some of them looked new and others looked like they were open box/returns. Some of them had RMA stickers on them. The ones I sorted through, even though the packaging may have not been new or had an RMA sticker, the product did look new and undamaged. Most of the Incase Capsules earbuds that I saw had RMA stickers on the retail packaging. I did not see any without them. There could have been some without RMA stickers earlier in the day. For the most part, I saw great product mixture from many of Incase’s product line.

So you are probably wondering what I purchased? Well, I did find a sling backpack and a messenger bag for my MacBook Pro 15″. Two sleeves, Alloy and a Sling sleeve for my MacBook Air 13″. A perforated black hardshell, in black, cover case for my MacBook Pro 15″. And, Sonic over the ear headphones, plus, Incase through in, for free, two Pivot headphones since I spent over $100. All of these products would have cost me $600.00 plus tax and shipping, if I where to purchase them online at Incase’s website. I only paid $105.00 for everything. Matter of fact, I was not even charged sales tax! See my goodies below.

Incase Warehouse Sale Saves Me $500 CaseAHOLIC

After it was all done and said, I am glad I did not talk myself out of not going. I picked up some goodies and saved big money, even though I arrived late. Next time I will make sure to be better prepaid and arrive early.

I would like to say thank you to Incase for putting on this sale and giving back to their loyal customers, and newly adopters. There are many manufactures out there that do not take part in giving back to their loyal customers like Incase is doing. In today’s economy, especially here in California, times are tough for many. I am sure this sale helped out many families, students, and everybody else who attended save money. I am sure Incase has their reasons why they do this sale, and perhaps, if they happen to stumble upon this post, they would comment, but for whatever their reason, it is welcomed by many others and me.

My last thoughts. Make sure to follow Incase so you can be aware of their next sale. For all of you who knew about it, and decided not to go, you missed out! For those of you who do not live in or near Southern California. I truly believe this would be a great excuse to plan a vacation, road trip, or just to visit some long-lost family, and take back a bunch of great Incase products.

If you were at Incase’s warehouse sale, post a comment below of all the great products you got and how much you saved.

Review INCIPIO SILICRYLIC DualPro Case for Samsung Galaxy S3 S 3 III

Review Incipio Silicrylic DualPro case for Samsung galaxy S3 (S III 3) should be on your list of consideration if you’re shopping for a case. With so many cases to choose from, how do you know if this is the right case for you? Read on and/or watch our video review of the Incipio Silicrylic DualPro Samsung Galaxy S3 (S 3 III) case.

Incipio Silicrylic DualPro case features two layers of protection, an outer hard shell and an inner core silicone skin. This hybrid combination is popular because of the protection benefits combining hard plastic with silicone, cosmetic stylish looks, and color combinations.

Starting with the silicone skin, it is soft to the touch, flexible, and provides grip while holding it in your hand(s). Installing the silicone skin is simple and only takes a half of a second. When the Incipio Silicrylic DualPro silicone skin is on the Samsung Galaxy S III 3 (S3), it clings to the phone like a glove. It stays true to the form of the Galaxy S III. The silicone skin has two thicknesses. The surrounding edges, top, bottom, and both sides is thicker than in the middle where the plastic hard shell lays over it. It is designed this way so the hard shell lays flush with the silicone skin. As for the thicker silicone edges, this offers protection in key impact areas and absorbs shock in the event you should drop your Galaxy S 3.

The silicone skin covers both of the side buttons on the Samsung Galaxy S III. It has a nice clean raised ridge around the buttons. Which helps your fingers locate the buttons much faster, based on my testing. This really adds a benefit that you would not think about until you use this case. I did not have any troubles pushing or experience any functionality issues with the buttons during my test. I actually thought my buttons worked better, and it seemed to prevent accidental button pressing.

Another feature Incipio included on the Silicrylic DualPro Samsung Galaxy S3 case is a raised rim around the front LCD area. This raised rim provides additional protection and prevents scratches and/or damaging your LCD screen when laying the Samsung Galaxy S3 on its face. I for one, have this habit of laying my phone face down, because I don’t want to lay my Samsung Galaxy S III on its back in fear of scratching my case(s).

There were a couple of drawbacks I found with the silicone skin, while testing the case. Lint and other small particles stick to it, especially if you keep it in your pocket. If you have a dark color silicone skin, mine was black, the lint and/or particles do show up quite a bit. Which can look a little tacky. The lint and/or particles that do stick to it, can easily come off with a damp cloth and a quick wipe down.

Incipio Silicrylic DulPro Galaxy S 3 S3 III

The second layer of protection Incipio Silicrylic DualPro Samsung Galaxy S III 3 (S3) case has is an outer hard shell plastic that provides protection like the shell on the turtle’s back. It is made out of a durable polycarbonate flexible plastic. It does not feel flimsy or cheap. The hard shell plastic has a matte finish with soft touch rubberized texture coating.

The soft touch rubberized texture coating is a welcomed feature of the Incipio Silicrylic DualPro Samsung Galaxy S3 case. It provides added grip while holding it in your hand(s). I have found that it also prevents the case from sliding around when I lay it on my dashboard in my car while driving. I also discovered that the rubberized matte finished coating hides the nicks and scratches, which occur from daily wear and tear, better than shinny plastic cases. This helps prolong the new look of the case.

Accessing all of Samsung Galaxy S III ports, camera and/or flash, headphone jack, and buttons is not an issue with Incipio’s Silicrylic DualPro case. Throughout my testing, I did not experience any difficulties. The headphone jack opening worked with all of my different headphone plugs. The cutout for the camera works great. I did not have any issues with the case affecting my pictures, with or without flash. The microphone cutouts, both top and bottom centered with the microphones. I did not experience any issues while on a call. The other party can hear me perfectly. My overall experience with the Incipio Silicrylic DualPro case was enjoyable.

Incipio does include a screen protector, cleaning cloth and a squeegee with the case. Once you add the screen protector in conjunction with the Silicrylic DualPro case, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will have full wraparound protection.

The design of the Pulse case is made with TPU (Thermal Polyurethane), and has a special ergonomic contour shape designed for a more enjoyable feel while holding it in your hands. It also features a anti-slip coating for extra grip. One feature that really stands out to me which is included with the Pulse case is the lanyard. If you’re anything like me, when I’m playing an intense game on my iPhone, I sometimes find the need to throw it, especially when I am losing. Because of this hands-free security lanyard, I can actually throw it and have it go nowhere. I have not actually done it, so I would not recommend you try this, but it is a great ideal.

The Agent18® new Pulse case provides full access to all of your ports, switches and camera. So, there is no need to worry about having to remove the case to access your iPhone 4 4s features and functions.

The Agent18 New Pulse case is available in two colors, Black and Green.

My thoughts:

I can’t wait to actually test this case out, because I have a need for it. On those heavy email days that they will not just stop coming, this case will be a godsend to have and use so my hands feel much more comfortable throughout the day. And of course, when I am playing my favorite games during my break periods. Ultimately this case may not be your everyday case to use on your iPhone, for some yes and other no, but it is a case I can see everyone should have in their collection.
